What Cleaners Wish You Knew

When you Seattle Green Maids into a freshly cleaned home, you might feel a rush of amazement. You think, how did they do that? Professional cleaners do this for a living, after all, and they have a front-row seat to some of our most personal spaces. But despite their impressive skills, they aren’t infallible. Like any other profession, they have their own pet peeves.

Cleaners aired some of theirs on Reddit, and the responses were honest and raw. Here’s what they wish you knew—and some of their biggest frustrations.

Having to work around pets can be challenging for cleaners, especially if they are allergic. They also often encounter dander, hair, and other debris stuck to furniture or surfaces that require special cleaning methods. Similarly, if you have a kitty with an aversion to baths, or a dog that loves to chew, it’s important to make that clear to your cleaners.

Why Recurring Cleaning Saves Money in the Long Run

A clean, functional space is essential for cleaners to do their best work. A few simple things you can do to support their efforts include putting away clutter before they arrive, making sure all surfaces are accessible (not hiding behind the sofa), and storing valuables in a safe or secure place.

Frequent rescheduling can be a challenge for cleaners because they operate on a tight schedule and must often juggle multiple clients’ homes in a day or week. Plus, if you cancel or move your appointment without 48 hours’ notice, it may result in lost income that they can’t recoup.
